This is another one of the family homes. From Left to Right: Mahir, Tawar, Alan, Araz (Alan's aunt), me, Awaz and Ahang (Araz's sisters)
This is the formal sitting room at Avan's house. (Alan's cousin)
This is Alan with his favorite car.
It is a 2001 Peageot 406.
He used it to attract the ladies.
There are scratch marks on the trunk from where girls' rings would scratch the paint as they pet the car. This was in Mahir's words, not Alan's. :)
Lunch!!! The main star is the platter of dolmas. Off to the left is a pot of black rice and a salad.
This is Rashid Agha, the founder of the family.
Mahir said, "This is the man we owe all of our wealth to."
This is Noraddin Rashid Agha! This is Rashid Agha's son. It is Alan's grandfather. He died well before Alan was born.
Beautiful photos, Megan. I hope that you'll enjoy your stay in Erbil. Don't forget to go to Qala and visit the old houses there. I'm sure that Alan will take you there =)
ReplyDeleteGive my regards to all (without exception) and hopefully we meet one day.
We love all the pictures and look forward to the families getting together in the future.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Megan. Great pictures. Snow is still sitting here in Denver but lots of sun today.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you and Alan for sharing this adventure with all of us. Have a great time and a safe trip home. This sounds like the trip of a lifetime!
